The Experience

From Michelin Guide

The long-established Zur Rose is a gourmet restaurant that has certainly made its mark along the romantic Tyrolean Wine Route. Here, chef Herbert Hintner serves his own version of creative, contemporary cuisine (ably assisted for the past five years by his son Daniel) which has a strong regional identity influenced by the Alto Adige, in an elegant building dating back to 1300 – the restaurant has been known as “La Rosa” since 1585. Ingredients and dishes change depending on the time of year, with two menus each season, one regional, the other vegetarian. Riding the crest of a wave for decades, Hintner’s cuisine never falters and continues to offer an unmissable gourmet experience.

Unique Things

From Visitor Experiences

A historic, 14th-century room that has carried the same name for centuries, yet the menu is run as a modern seasonal sequence. The kitchen is a family operation, with Herbert Hintner and his son Daniel cooking side by side, and the format explicitly includes a vegetarian menu, not as an afterthought but as a parallel track.

Ingredient Stars

From Visitor Experiences

Seasonal Alto Adige produce, used to keep the menu tied to the region rather than a global pantry. A second, fully vegetarian menu is offered, so vegetables and herbs are treated as core material, not just supporting cast.

Menu & Pricing

Current Offerings & Prices

A long-running South Tyrolean dining room on the Wine Road, where a seasonal tasting menu holds tradition and modern structure in tension. The cooking is contemporary but regionally rooted, served in an old house with the feel of a landmark rather than a scene, with a vegetarian option alongside the main menu.
