The Experience

From Michelin Guide

Located on the edge of a forest in the countryside above Linz, this restaurant is a fine dining institution in the city, thanks to the unwavering commitment of owner Erich Lukas. His son Philipp has now joined him in the kitchen. Their modern and pleasingly accessible cuisine based on classical foundations is pared back to the essentials, with the odd Asian influence thrown in here and there. Take, for example, the piglet belly cooked until crispy on the outside and wonderfully tender on the inside, combined with the subtle acidity of a Calamansi gel and served in an intense broth flavoured with the hot and spicy notes of Karashi mustard and the appealing pungency of lemongrass – a dish that represents the scale of their ambition and is real pleasure to eat! The chic interior (some tables with view of Linz), fantastic terrace, judicious wine suggestions, and exceedingly charming and professional service team also play their part.

Signature Ingredients

  • Truffles (brown truffles): Truffles are a cornerstone of Verdi's menu, highlighted in dishes such as Truffle Linguini and Artichoke Tortelloni. Sourcing: Philipp Lukas personally selects fresh, high-quality truffles to reflect the restaurant's commitment to seasonal, regional produce. Preparation: shaved or integrated into sauces and fillings to impart an intense, luxurious aroma and depth of flavor. Why special: The distinctive aroma and prestige of brown truffles define Verdi's Mediterranean-leaning, yet regionally rooted cuisine and elevate the dining experience to Michelin-starred standards.
