The Experience

From Michelin Guide

Wend your way along the narrow Rue Terral to this comfortable and attractively appointed restaurant. You will quickly understand why it is one of Montpellier’s most popular eateries! It is impossible to resist Daniel Lutrand’s cuisine, which is both inspired and inspiring, refined and delicate, in a bid to showcase the region’s top producers. An example: green asparagus coated in a gel of nori seaweed, fillet of seabream confit in olive oil flanked by an elderflower emulsion. Two affordable lunchtime menus and a “surprise” menu in the evening whose composition depends on the chef’s inspiration. Cheerful, enthusiastic service by manager and business partner Jean-Philippe Vivant. Knockout wine list with over 600 references.

Unique Things

From Visitor Experiences

Market-driven, producer-direct philosophy

  • The restaurant centers on choosing the 'right product' directly from producers, market gardeners, winemakers, and fishers, with no intermediaries, emphasizing freshness and quality.

Mentorship and lineage to Michel Bras driving the concept

  • The young owners met at Michel Bras's home; Daniel Lutrand trained at L'Astrance in Paris and La Maison de la Lozère in Montpellier, while Jean-Philippe Vivant has international dining-room experience, showing a blend of Bras's influence with cosmopolitan training that informs their approach.

Tailored wine pairing as a core feature

  • The dining room lead guides guests toward wines from Coteaux du Languedoc, Gigondas, or other local winemakers, customizing pairings to guest desires, highlighting a strong emphasis on food-and-wine matching rather than a fixed menu.
