The Experience

From Michelin Guide

In the setting of a former luxury brasserie, Tabata and Ludovic Mey (whose previous restaurant was Les Apothicaires) have opened this place with an atmosphere reminiscent of a carriage on the Orient Express: dark wood panelling, landscape frescoes and burgundy banquettes reminiscent of the 1930s. The couple's creative and technical cuisine gives vegetable ingredients the red carpet treatment; they don't take the easy route, as illustrated by the remarkable salad starter. The veal sweetbreads cooked in hazelnut butter and lightly smoked, with Camus artichoke, vin jaune and walnuts may be more classically inspired but it demonstrates the same culinary precision. Brasserie Roseaux next door offers an alternative dining option.

Unique Things

From Visitor Experiences

  • Only New Michelin Star in Lyon for 2025: Ombellule is the sole restaurant in Lyon to receive a Michelin star in the 2025 guide, marking a unique achievement in a city renowned for its culinary scene.
  • Chef Duo with Prior Michelin Success: The restaurant is led by Chefs Tabata and Ludovic Mey, who previously earned a Michelin star at their former restaurant, Les Apothicaires, before its closure—a rare continuity of recognition for the same chef team at different establishments.
  • Rapid Recognition Post-Opening: Ombellule opened in October and earned its Michelin star just months later in the 2025 guide, an exceptionally fast recognition for a new restaurant in a competitive city.
