The Experience

From Michelin Guide

The Juncà siblings (with Jordi and Isabel in the kitchen and Joan in the role of sommelier and front of house manager) subtly focus on the history of the property and its personality, while continuing to extol the virtues of the wooded landscapes of the Vall de Bianya and its native ingredients. The hostal that first stood here in the late 19C has given way to this superb gastronomic restaurant with a contemporary look and interesting contrasts between modern design and the materials that connect us with our surroundings (stone, wood, leather etc). The à la carte and set menus (Memories in Evolution and Discovering the Valley) open the door to creative cuisine that embraces traditional Catalan cuisine while at the same time showcasing seasonal native ingredients. The attractive wine cellar occupies what was once a rainwater tank!

Unique Things

From Visitor Experiences

What makes Ca l'Enric distinct

  • A family-led room with clear roles: Jordi and Isabel Juncà lead the kitchen, with Joan Juncà running the cellar and front of house.
  • A modern dining room rooted in the site's materials: contemporary design set against stone, wood and leather, tying the space back to the valley around it.
  • A wine cellar in a former rainwater tank: the cellar occupies what used to be a cistern, now repurposed as a temperature-stable bottle room.

Ingredient Stars

From Visitor Experiences

Signature Ingredients

  • Seasonal native produce from Vall de Bianya and La Garrotxa: the menus pivot with what is coming in from the surrounding woods and farms.
  • Morel mushrooms: used in dishes such as morels with a tripe and eel salsa, a strong example of the kitchen's forest-meets-offal palate.
  • Peas and nettle: grilled peas paired with a nettle pil pil, often served with hake cheeks, shows the kitchen's bias toward green, spring flavours and clean sauces.
  • Hake cheeks: a recurring fish cut that takes well to grill and gentle sauces.
