This beacon of gastronomy at Europa-Park is part of Hotel Bell Rock and is indeedlocated in a lighthouse. Designed by hotel Claudio Carbone, the interior is timelessly chic and elegantly grand. Translucent organza curtains in shimmering gold and warm tones create an intimate atmosphere and promote a feeling of tranquillity. Seated on plush velvet-upholstered armchairs at exquisitely set tables, diners enjoy attentive and competent service provided by a well-coordinated team. Chef Peter Hagen-Wiest presents two eight-course set menus: Around the World and Green Forest (vegetarian). Both reflect his cosmopolitan outlook and, at the same time, his ties to the region. Rather unspectacular-sounding dishes such as char, barley, bacon or Breton red mullet, foie gras, lemon belie a complexity of flavors and a delicate balance rarely encountered. The quality of the ingredients is beyond question. Decent wine selection and interesting pairings.
