The Experience

From Michelin Guide

An interesting gourmet option in the centre of the city, located at the foot of the emblematic Santa María de La Antigua church, one of the indisputable icons of Valladolid architecture. The restaurant, preceded by a terrace that is almost always full of university students, features a contemporary yet informal gastro-bar (Crisol) where you can order the daily menu as well as fun dishes designed for sharing. The restaurant’s so-called gastronomic space, with its open-view kitchen and decorative details inspired by the molecular cuisine that has lent the restaurant the second half of its name, is the domain of Alvar Hinojal. His culinary skill shines forth on three bold and creative tasting menus (Noradrenalina, Serotonina and Dopamina) on which every mouthful is full of delicious surprises.

Unique Things

From Visitor Experiences

Two distinct dining zones in one Michelin-starred venue

  • Alquimia Valladolid operates Lab (Laboratorio) as a haute, molecular cuisine zone with menu degustación, and Crisol as an informal, tapas-friendly space that serves as a 'crisol gastronómico de culturas'. This contrast within a single restaurant is unusual for Michelin-starred dining.

Molecular cuisine made accessible to all audiences

  • The Lab concept is described as 'una zona de alta cocina, un concepto de cocina molecular creado para todos los públicos', meaning its advanced techniques are presented in a way that everyone can enjoy, not just connoisseurs, via different tasting menus.

A multicultural fusion hub inside a Michelin-starred setting

  • The Crisol zone explicitly frames itself as a melting pot of cultures ('crisol gastronómico de culturas'), offering a casual, culturally diverse dining experience within the same Michelin-starred establishment.
